The new year is approaching and if you haven’t done so already, it’s time to put your life and goals into perspective. I started 2018 with many resolutions that I wanted to have accomplished around this time of year but unfortunately, that just didn’t happen. 2018 started good but after my boyfriend got into a horrific accident, my momentum towards my personal goals and business shifted. My lifestyle changed from a two-parent household to one and so did the income. Everything happened so fast, that I wasn’t able to process my reality. But when I did honestly, I became mentally drained and exhausted thinking about it. Not only was I drained, but I felt like a failure because I didn’t have the energy to put my all into my business.
Now that things are finally getting back to normal, I found the time to reflect. Although nothing went as planned, this year taught me how strong I am, never take your loved ones for granted and timing is everything! No matter your race, sex or class you will experience the unexpected and it’s important that you to keep pushing through even when you don’t feel like it. If you have to cry let the tears flow, if you have to shout let it out, if you need a day take it- but don’t get in your own way. You don’t want to end the year like me thinking about what you could’ve or should’ve done. I maintained Modish Mommies, but I know there is so much more
- Track Your Progress: It’s important to track your progress to make sure you accomplish everything you need to reach your goals.
- Value Time: Maximize your productivity by valuing your time-make everyday count!
- Check Yourself: Review your performance and conduct a self-review to make sure you are moving in the right direction. Ask yourself: Have your weaknesses turned into strengths? Have you met your monthly goals? Has your productivity increased or decreased?
- Seek Feedback: The opinion of your customers, family members, mentor, and friends matter. Their feedback will give you valuable insight in order for you and your business to grow and be successful.
It’s important that we identify ways to keep us motivated and make us accountable for our actions. By managing yourself and creating a system that works for you will be able to keep your momentum up and exceed your goals and aspirations. Remember, don’t get in your own way because there is always a light at the end of the tunnel!
